The Expendables 3 is a 2014 American ensemble action film directed by Patrick Hughes, and indited by Creighton Rothenberger, Katrin Benedikt, and Sylvester Stallone. It is a sequel to the 2012 action film The Expendables 2, and the third installment in The Expendables film series.

Perlman commenced working on the screenplay in 2009. With the antecedent three installments set between 2 Expeditious 2 Furious (2003) and The Expeditious and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006), Furious 7 is the first installment in the franchise to take place after Tokyo Drift.
